Established in Edinburgh in 1970, The Torrance Gallery has spent more than five decades championing distinctive contemporary art.

Alan Cameron, A Legacy

Alan Cameron’s work brings together a lifelong sensitivity to landscape, architecture and atmosphere. Working principally in pastel, he found enduring inspiration in Scotland and Italy, distilling each place through colour, structure and light.


The Torrance Gallery is proud to represent his estate and present works from across his career.

Born in Edinburgh in 2003, Ben Hopkins is a young Scottish painter whose work is rooted in direct observation of landscape, light and atmosphere.


Working primarily en plein air and exclusively from life, he captures the fleeting character of a place and moment, from quiet natural landscapes to the energy of the built environment, combining rigorous training with an immediate and highly responsive approach to painting.
